Successful MS Exchange 2007 migration at National Centre for Social Research
27 Feb 2009
The National Centre for Social Research (NatCen) were using Eudora mail and needed a new messaging system to provide increased resilience, performance and functionality for their staff.
NatCen approached System Professional, a long standing supplier of IT services and consultancy to the business, to help with the design and build of the new mail environment
Following detailed planning and technical workshop sessions, NatCen and System Professional developed a fully resilient solution around MS Exchange 2007. This has been installed in a resilient cluster configuration across both the Brentwood and London sites.
In addition, the use of a mixed Physical and Virtual solution means that NatCen can experience any single component failure, without experiencing any downtime. Integration with CommVault allows for the automatic archiving of email data to further reduce storage overheads and cost.
As well as providing the HP server infrastructure and MS Exchange consultancy, System Professional also conducted a number of training sessions with NatCen personnel. This covered initial technical sessions for the service desk staff and further operational training for key NatCen team leaders in order to ease the migration path.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the very successful delivery of the MS Exchange Project. The team at System Professional has provided an excellent service, both technically (demonstrating time and time again the knowledge and experience available) but also professionally, providing timely and relevant information and guidance whenever and wherever needed during this entire project. It has been a pleasure to work with each and every person on the team!”
Helen Eng – Senior Technical Manager at National Centre for Social Research
